For cleaning the bath, mostly Japanese use tawashi, a scrubbing brush. Talking about tawashi, you must think of its tight fibers. Until Taisho era, they had used fibers of hemp palm. They say they have mostly used coconut fibers since Showa era. However, it never means that completely dead is tawashi of Chinese windmill palm. There is Kozo Co., Ltd. in Wakayama. By only them, windmill palm tawashi has been produced recently in Japan.
