About our introductory articles

“Harada” is the representative brand of the Hatsumomiji Sake Brewery established in Yamaguchi prefecture. That was created over their death and regeneration.

Yamaguchi is located at the west of the Chugoku district in the Nippon main island. Namely, that exists on the westernmost of the main island. Far from the big cities like Tokyo and Osaka, Yamaguchi is often taken up as just a provincial area.

Harada
Being local means the district contains a small population. Production does not become large-scale there, then. Actually, Hatsumomiji produces about 27059 liter throughout a year. But being provincial is not the main reason why they don’t brew so much.

From 1985 to 2005, they had stopped brewing and had lived by wholesale for the two decades. However, Harada the 12th decided to brew what can be worthy of their history since 1819. After a lot of study, he restarted to brew in 2005.

Two decades are not a short time, you know. Hatsumomiji were unable to prepare the site and materials .easily. Their brewery is small-scale which cannot physically brew a lot. Being small-scale is advantageous to them because Mr. Harada can sufficiently give his attention to the sake production. Quality of the brand has been appreciated over the world. Some of theirs are recently managed in New York.
