Firstly, Galileo here means a fictional male character; Yukawa Manabu, not an Italian physicist. Yukawa Manabu is, 34 years old, an associate professor of physics. Though he is so smart and good-looking and athletic, he still lives alone because he is always disputatious. The character has made him get the nickname of Galileo.

Kusanagi Shunpei has belonged to crime squad 1 of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and is Galileo's old friend. He always lodges difficult cases which look like nothing but supernatural phenomenon as a poltergeist and so on, with Yukawa. Using his genius head, Galileo tries to solve the questions one after the other.

Based on Detective Galileo series, they produced the first television drama series in 2007 and a female police detective; Utsumi Kaoru, starred by Shibasaki Koh, appeared as a partner of Galileo in the dramas.

In fact, Utsumi Kaoru was born since they asked Higashino Keigo make a female main character act in the series, for producing TV drama stories. Then, ahead of TV dramas, she made her debut on a short story released in 2006 and Galileo's Angst includes the novella. The short story collection namely connotes the beginning of new charm and so it is good to beginners of the series.

Moreover, the collection goes on centering Yukawa Manabu as a human like his former teacher appears in an episode and no police workers enter a tale. You will get him deeper and closer with the short story collection. The book title is Galileo's Angst.
