About our introductory articles

When you read "the Autobiography of Yukichi Fukuzawa," I believe you'd better doubt what's written as possible.

Now, first, I'm showing why he published the autobiography. Fukuzawa had been recommended to release his autobiography in his closing years. He didn't for his busy life, however.

One day, Fukuzawa hit on an idea that says it would be solved by using a stenographer. Then, he talked about his whole life to Yujiro Yano, a reporter who belonged to the Jijishinpou Inc. Moreover, he amended the rough drafts written by Yano. Then, "the Autobiography of Yukichi Fukuzawa" was born out.

What kind of person was Fukuzawa? He was, to speak simply, an idealistic liberal. We can know what his liberalism was by reading the autobiography or his works and then, don't mention about it here. "Idealistic" is the key for this time.

Idealists you have met in your daily life must be too proud or sometimes kind of fundamentalists. They've almost lost their open-mindedness because of their ideals. You must not desire to be closer to them if you don't need.

As mentioned above, the autobiography was written together with his adaptation. The contents, therefore, must have included his ideal for convenience. So I said "you'd better doubt what's written as possible."

Finally, let me say what I thought reading the autobiography. "Who Set Him On Our 10,000 Yen Bills?"
