As many forests and ranchers are seen on the way of transferring from a city to another city in Hokkaido, there are many ranchers in Hokkaido. By the way, caramel manufactured by a rancher managed by Tanaka Yoshitake had become in vogue in Japan. That rancher has also been in Hokkaido, too.

Jajauma Grooming★UP! is a cartoon by Yuuki Masami, who became popular as an author of Mobile Police Patlabor. It is manga about Watarai Farm; a horse rancher in Hokkaido.
The title must be a parody of The Taming of the Shrew, a comedy written by William Shakespeare. The comedy is called Jajauma Narashi in Japan. But Watarai Hibiki, a heroine of Jajauma Grooming★UP! is not a shrew like Katherina Minola but also is a tough bird.
The story begins when Kuze Shunpei, a main role high school boy from Tokyo, lost his wallet on his way of traveling in Hokkaido. He gets hungry and falls ill on the street. Watarai Hibiki finds him and her family takes care of him. He lies beside Watarai Farm; a horse rancher which produced Strike Eagle that wins Spring Stakes and becomes in line to enter Japanese Classical Races. Kuze Shunpei by the chance watches the Spring Stakes aired on the TV at the farm and then becomes involved in Watarai Farm.
It is a wonderful story which politely describes growth, independence and love of a boy at a rancher. Weekly Sunday’s site still introduces the story as a good manga. Characters are all charming very much.
The story must be the greatest work in the stories of Hokkaido.
