About our introductory articles

Youth or green days are expressed as “Seishun” in Japanese language. It means Blue Spring; the spring season in life. Do you know what the next is, then? The answer is “Shuka,” Vermilion Summer. Fall of life is said “Haku-shu” (White Autumn), by the way. According to a book, “Shuka” points 30 – the latter part of 50s, the best season in your life.

A Japanese manga artist, Yuki Masami has written his essay manga “Yuki Masami’s Never Ending Story” on “Monthly New Type” since 1985 when he was 27 years old. It is also the records of his Vermilion Summer.

When “Monthly New Type” got to the 10th anniversary, Yuki Masami said “I didn’t guess the magazine could have gone on for a decade” in the essay. It means his Never Ending Story has happened to be never-ending.

His essay has never based on any themes; that is supposed to be one of the reasons which the essay can run for 30 years. Goes anything around Yuki Masami. And I believe that it wins mannerism something long-serialized must have, over to its side for no theme.

Wouldn’t you think it over? Our life carries no theme. We just live and our daily things are in mannerism on the whole. So we feel familiar with “Yuki Masami’s Never Ending Story” and must be kind of eased.

“Yuki Masami’s Never Ending Story” has ceaselessly described his Vermilion Summer. We can express Yuki Masami’s Endless Summer is it, then. That is not sweltering by Yuki’s unique lassitude and light, free and witty manner of manga making, nevertheless. He often wears his aloha shirt in the manga; it might looks kind of summery.
