Hokkaido Milk has run producing milk products like milk and yogurt in the north island of Japan; Hokkaido since 1949. People in the main islands may say “I have never heard such a name.” Some of them must have seen “Fruit Salad Yogurt;” their leading product, however.

Allow me to explain what it is. Manually packing pieces of four fruits (grapes, peaches, tangerines and pineapples) together into high-quality yogurt based on fresh milk made in Hokkaido, they are producing “Fruit Salad Yogurt” full of pulp.

“Fruit Salad Yogurt” was developed by one breakfast at a foreign hotel. The president, Mr. Tajima, happened to meet the unique style to pour yogurt on fruit cocktail (fruit salad). Impressed at the deliciousness and uniqueness so much, he tried to produce the taste in Japan. Then, “Fruit Salad Yogurt” was born at market in 1994.

It might look like just overreaching. However, Hokkaido Milk repeated trials and errors in order to make their originality. Producing a sense of handmade, they are still separating ingredient fruits manually one by one without any machines. So it is popular as their leading product.
