Lately we have a lot of locally special ramen everywhere in Japan. Mixture of good and bad, as things stand now, from very delicious to very chemical-like.

Umakacchan original version

Then what on the earth is the first locally special ramen in Japan. It is Umakacchan the ramen of Kyusyu, developed and sold by House Foods. The ramen was born in the fall of 1979. And many versions have been. But every Umakacchan has been made only at Fukuoka factory of House Foods, so that is truly rooted in Kyusyu.

One day, ramen of House Foods were not nearly liked by their own members in a Kyusyu branch. After asking why, it was found that soy sauce flavored ramen did never suit most people in Kyusyu.

Originally into Kyusyu, pork bone broth ramen have penetrated. So started was investigation into what kind of ramen should be liked and be on sale in Kyusyu. Then they developed Umakacchan after great efforts.

By the way, Umaka in Umakacchan means delicious in Kyusyu. Chan is the suffix for dear person in Japan. Thanks to their hard search, they have made it loved widely in Kyusyu recently.

Though it is from Kyusyu, Umakacchan original versions are on sale through most areas of West Japan and on sale at an official web store of House Foods. So it can relatively be easier to have.
