Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki is a song originally by Ishikawa Sayuri, a Japanese enka singer. The song was released in 1977 and then won the 19th Japan Record Awards. In Japan, Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki is still well-known and sung by many Japanese.

Lyrics on the song were written by the late great lyricist Aku Yu and it describes a lady’s heartbreak. Losing her love, she decided to leave Tokyo and leave for her hometown. The lyrics also describe her feeling on homecoming with several sights in Aomori. Because it has been very popular, Japanese made some monuments inscribed with the lyrics at some places in connection with the lyrics on the song in 1990’s.

Then, Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki was reborn on the album WHITE in 2011. Angela Aki is a vocalist and also a great piano player. With tasteful piano like classic music, the song seems to have got refreshed. So you can listen to brand new Tsugaru Kaikyo Fuyugeshiki as not enka but J-pop.
