Jazz songs are usually on at bars, cafes or so. But if so, it should be sure that children and mothers-to-be tend to be away from jazz music.

Introduced is Ghibli meets Jazz series by Tateishi Kazumi Trio. These songs can be on in a car of a family or in a little rest during childcare.

Like Spirited Away, Whisper of the Heart, My Neighbor Totoro and the like, animation movies by Studio Ghibli must be very popular among most of Japanese. Movie music from their films are covered by the trio; Tateishi Kazumi on piano, Sato Shinobu on bass and Suzuki Mao on drums. And their jazz songs are well-balanced with no feeling strange.

They say Tateishi Kazumi has played electric organ arranging his favorite film music since his childhood so these album might mean certain going to the starting point to him. Listening to Memorable Songs gives the impression that each playing of the trio stands out more than Beautiful Songs. Maybe it is from that their grooves have mellowed as time goes.

An illustrator who worked on pictures of this series is Fukuda Toshiyuki. He has worked on many picture books and also on some Spitz's CD jackets. Making pictures whose tastes are apart from jazz in a good meaning, Fukuda has let this series very familiar to young and old.

The album has got the first on jazz chart of Amazon.co.jp and their playing Ghibli songs have gained public favor at various events and radio programs. It is good to choose your favorite song or nice to select a song used on your favorite film. Anyway, they would like to be heard by a lot of kinds of people as Ghibli films.
