HANA -chatte tricolore- is the third album of Senoo Misato. She is an up-and-coming jazz pianist from Kobe, Hyogo. Same as a lot of jazz pianists, she had originally learnt classical piano in her childhood and somehow she got converted to jazz.

What should we take as a difference between classical music and jazz first? Before everything, it is necessity of a score. For playing classical music, they absolutely need to follow the music. Composers all load their souls into the sheets and players have to pick it up in a faithful manner. They must display their individualities in the play.
Meanwhile, jazz seldom needs score sheets because jazz almost consists of improvisation. If ten musicians are, there are ten types of a song on tempo, key and its length and the like. We can never get the same performance twice, they freely and fluidly express and contend themselves. That is a way of jazz.
No matter how liberal spirit of jazz is, most are still conservative about jazz music in Japan. Without some standards, they hardly get to take jazz songs and listen to jazz plays. We can often see the firm tendency although they tend to prefer original songs outside Japan. It is probably since they have a custom to make much of the rarity and the originality.
On the contrary, Senoo Misato has published three albums and all composed by herself. In Japan, she is a jazz pianist who belongs to an infrequent case. Can't help but feel her infinite challenging spirit and her confidence of her composition from the career.
So apart from conventional jazz, Misato wrote and played ten songs of the album under the concept of cats in her character. They say she loves pussies so much and Hana is from a name of her bygone cat. However, as chatte has kind of the sexual meaning that they rarely use openly in France the home, Senoo Misato plays not only in cuteness. She sounds fascinatingly sexy on occasion, just like cats.
The nucleus of jazz spirit is free expression and self-assertion. Then, it could be said real jazz is found in HANA -chatte tricolore-. As Hana means the flower, that all includes fine songs.
