Produced by Kobayashi Takeshi
My Little Lover had originally consisted of Akko (vocal) and Fujii Kenji (guitar), totally produced by Kobayashi Takeshi. They made their major debut on May 1, 1995 with their first single “Man & Woman.” In 1995, they overall released three singles and then, the end of the year, published their first studio album “evergreen.”
According to Oricon, “Man & Woman” sold about 917,000 copies and their third single “Hello, Again ～昔からある場所～” did about 1,850,000 copies. My Little Lover made big hits though they were just a newcomer. Being a favorite of the times, they released the first album and it did about 2,797,000 copies.
Kobayashi Takeshi, their producer, joined My Little Lover at “evergreen.” It means he was seriously tackling My Little Lover. The first step “evergreen” shows his natural gift for music more than any other works produced by Kobayashi Takeshi. The integrity must be denied by nobody.
How can pops work in our society and life? The songs probably exist in order to give us kind of happiness or satisfaction. On “evergreen,” vocals of Akko, lyrics of sweet and bitter, and resplendent arrangement; they all have you get there like an angel.
Pop music is, as you know, designed to change itself in line with times. On the other hand, there must be something good unchangingly and our hearts have known. One of the examples is “evergreen.” The songs are supposed to bring you to somewhere evergreen inside yourselves.
