Well, “mapa casa” is a kind of wooden dolls produced by Atelier Mapa. I know it helps children play and grow up with their families.

Long time ago, when we were children, I believe we played, always aware of our families. Especially so in female cases. Playing house is a role play based on family, and girls set a high value on its family structure when they play doll houses.

Family is the first community of children. It is reasonable a sense of family exists at the bottom of their playing. Then, “mapa casa” will grow it up.

They say “Mapa” means mother and father. “Casa” does home in Italian. Namely, “mapa casa” is “home of mom and dad.” Do you wonder why Italian language puts on Japan-made dolls? The maker; Tominaga Shuhei was born and grew up in Italy. Inevitable is it.

Opening a set of “mapa casa,” you get large and small dolls of wood. Children would right away regard the smaller as themselves and the larger as parents. Then, they will construct and spread the world.

Family is the most familiar community in our world. Your neighbors have their families. Recognizing the fact makes you meet the wider society, stories and world in your mind. Little children could be given the chance by “mapa casa.”

Pile up like building blocks, put them as domino toppling, or use in playing house; it is all down to you. They can work not just as a toy, however also as a part of the interior.
