Bandai released Tamagotchi in 1996 and it inside became pretty popular in a twinkling. At the time, female teenagers were the source of vogue. The girls were fond of the game and then most Japanese wanted it. Well, developers of the game were heading for a wristwatch-shaped game at the beginning. They faced hard going in design and finally they developed an egg-shaped game. An egg is called Tamago in Japanese. Mixing the watch with tamago, they named the game Tamagotchi.
