Electric rice-cookers, at the first time, were manufactured and sold only in Japan. The advantage of electric cookers is a function to cut the power supply automatically when rice is done. The first incorporating company of the function is Toshiba. Most of Toshiba members opposed incorporating this function in development stage, however, because they felt misgivings about letting Japanese women lazier with the function.
