Shop curtains have been used since...



Shop curtains are necessary for Japanese taverns or stands. Even recently, lights over shop curtains have fascinated many Japanese workers on the way home. In Kamakura era, they imported shop curtains from China. In Azuchi-Momoyama era, shop curtains got to mean signboards of shops. Since Edo era, saying the shop curtain is old has meant that the shop has for a long been managed and trusted enough.
