“Rumiko no Sake” (Rumiko’s Sake) is the representative brand of Moriki Brewery established in Mie. It was named by Oze Akira, a Japanese manga artist who wrote and illustrated “Natsuko no Sake” (Natsuko’s Sake); the popular manga describing about the sake brewery field in Japan.
Rumiko is the real name of the female managing director in Moriki Brewery. Once upon a time, she happened to read “Natsuko no Sake” and surprised at the accidental coincidence. Natsuko, the main role, was set at the situation very similar to Rumiko. So impressed, she wrote to Oze. They got close and then, Oze named the representative brand Moriki Brewery made by hard work.

Moriki Brewery is not a large-scale brewery. “Rumiko no Sake” was born in 1992. The end of the twentieth century was the period of depression in Japanese sake and all small-scale breweries had to take up their cross. “Natsuko no Sake” became a great encouragement which made them survive through.
Since they are small-scale, Moriki Brewery can produce sincere ones. Using selected materials like water flowing through the Suzuka district, they politely brew all their brands.
Especially, “Rumiko no Sake” was from her real name. In other words, it overly tastes her life and dramas. An illustration by Oze Akira is printed on the label. Over “Natsuko no Sake,” one drama, another one was born. That is “Rumiko no Sake.”
