About our introductory articles

I have found rare shochu in Fukuoka, and let me introduce here. It is “Ten no Miroku,” green tea shochu by Kitaya Brewery that has brewed for about 200 years. Not flavoring so rich, “Ten no Miroku” really smells green tea and goes through your throats smoothly for real.

Though they were originally brewing Japanese sake, Kitaya got to start to produce shochu in 1963. “Kitaya” means a lot of delight, named by a will to make somebody glad with their alcohol drink. Their first wave is still alive, it means.

Ten no Miroku

Price: 880 JPN ( 720 ml )
Alcohol: 25
Vacuum Distillation
Made from Rice, Malted Rice (White), Yame-cha (Green tea)

It looks colorless. Drinking lets you feel sort of green tea, however. In reality, Fukuoka is also a place of green tea like Yame-cha, not only shochu. They really use Yame-cha produced in Fukuoka, for making “Ten no Miroku.” Then, the green tea shochu is supposed to be a genuine product of Fukuoka.

As mentioned above, it is so smooth to drink and then, you can enjoy the green tea shochu with a meal. My recommendation says you had better have on the rocks in order to feel the flavor. Of course, it is okay diluting with water or hot water.
