About our introductory articles

Hello, everybody! Today I'm here to talk about Black Jack, a Japanese popular manga written by Tezuka Osamu. Have you ever heard Black Jack? No, it is not a card game. Of course it doesn't point a locality in Queensland!

Before talking about what Black Jack is, I guess that I first have to explain what the author Tezuka Osamu is. Being ignorant of Tezuka Osamu is no good when you learn something about Japan's manga.

Tezuka Osamu is called Father of Manga in Japan although he already passed away in 1989, about 30 years ago. He was just an old manga artist now. you might guess. But we have seen nobody get him over in Japan's manga culture. There're still many Japanese artists who've been affected by Tezuka Osamu, like Nagai Go, Yamashita Tatsuro, Miyazaki Hayao and Saito Takao.

Tezuka Osamu'd worked as a manga artist all through his life, and also had a doctor license. In Japan, we can say that rare is the manga artist who has a medical lisence. Why did he get it? He spent his youth years under the World War 2. He didn't desire to stand in the front line as a soldier, and decided to be a doctor. In the war, doctors didn't have to work in unsafe situations.

Nobody can deny him. And it's supposed that Tezuka wouldn't get to create Black Jack without being a doctor.

The main character is a Japanese man in the long, black coat. People somehow call him Black Jack. He is a high-skilled surgeon without a lisence. There are many patients who want to be examined by Black Jack all over the world. However, he doesn't try to get a lisence. Why? Reading actually makes you get it, I think.

He kept describing and expressing how great living actually is, in any stories of his. I believe that Black Jack this work is the fruit of many years' labor on his part. The representative work of his latter career. If you are kind of intersted in Japan's manga or something about being a doctor, it will help you so much to read Black Jack.
