About our introductory articles

Hello. I'm talking about "Dementia Came To Mother Of A Brain Scientist" which appeared in 2018. It is the Japanese essay book written by Onzo Ayako. She's a Japanese brain scientist woman born in 1979. And I suppose that you don't wonder what's written in the book. As the title says, her mother got dementia one day, she wrote about the 2 years and half with her mother.

As you know, we have no treatment on dementia now. So many people long not to get it in their life. They say they don't care about getting old itself, but hope to stay far from getting dementia. Hoping so is pretty reasonable, I say. However, we are always close to dementia as long as being alive. Her mother got dementia in the middle of her 60's. Onzo is a brain scientist as mentioned above, and knows what dementia is. And she can't suffer from nothing.

Onzo lived with her mother who lost some memories. Does Losing memories mean losing identity? She found the answer through hard days with dementia. What is that? What on earth defines the person except memories? Reading the fifth chapter, you will know feelings must be intelligence. If you are going to live with dementia somehow, reading this won't be waste of time.
