About our introductory articles

Do you know Nanso Satomi Hakkenden that was quite familiar to Japanese people in Edo era? Simply to say, they collect eight balls that splattered at the beginning and poetic justice goes. Sorry for explaining too simply. Few of recent Japanese will think about Nansou Satomi Hakkenden, however, from the outline. Most must think of other manga. Yes, it is a manga Toriyama Akira had written and illustrated for over 10 years from 1984. Dragon Ball is it.

Finding all seven Dragon Balls interspersed all around the world, you can let it make your desire come true. The beginning is an adventure story about the two, Bulma a traveling girl who wants all Dragon Balls and a wild boy Son Goku. However, it is just an initial part of the introduction. Gradually the tales change into battle action stories that characters get stronger and stronger. No need to mention, the two never become in love each other.

First, Dragon Ball was published on Weekly Shounen Jump. In fact, the initial adventure stories were very unpopular as being the lowest in the popularity rank. Then, an editor of those days decided change in policy. They decided to make Son Goku get stronger and stronger. From the time on, Dragon Ball got to climb up to the top of all manga products in Weekly Shounen Jump.

Dragon Ball is still being a marvelous hit. Dragon Ball comic books are on sale with great reviews among over 30 countries. That heat has not settled down after 1995, in which Toriyama Akira finished Dragon Ball. For instance, Oricon did a domestic questionnaire survey which asked your favorite TV anime in April of 2008 and Dragon Ball got the top of the questionnaire survey. We have a lot of examples that show you Dragon Ball is loved beyond generation and nations, like that.

As a whole of Dragon Ball, you will find rapid inflation of characters’ power and simple illustrations that let children easily see what it is. Totally, the manga hardly has difficult elements and so kids can enjoy reading. Of course it is not that easy to simplify as everyone knows. It can be described as Toriyama Akira has predominant sense and he created the world of Dragon Ball.

That being said, the world got to be different from his initial plot. And it is not so difficult to think his fatigue and discord were considerable. After the end of Dragon Ball, no long manga stories by Toriyama Akira have been serialized till the present. In 2009, he confessed he wanted to resign from society entirely on Weekly Young Jump.

Beyond times and borderlines, the monster manga Dragon Ball has taken a part of many readers. That probably looks like Genki-dama a technique in the fictional world. All creatures, not only men however also trees and fishes, give their energy to Goku little by little and Goku uses a lump of the energy as Genki-dama in Dragon Ball.

It looks like the phenomenon occurred also to a creator of the story, Toriyama Akira. They say the excellent art have soul of its author whether he intends or he is involuntary. It can be considered that Dragon Ball took soul of its writer, too. Anyway, we have no greater battle action manga Japanese can be pround of, than Dragon Ball
