About our introductory articles

In 1877, they established the first modern university in Japan. Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2012-2013 gave No.27 in the world and No.1 in Asia to the university. The university is, you must have known, University of Tokyo.

Swallowing just the information, you can say University of Tokyo is the best among all Japanese universities and colleges. And also you will think it is the most difficult in Japan, to pass the entrance examination. Most Japanese have that imagination and so you can often see adults who act in letting a University of Tokyo graduate kind of a brand in Japan.

Now, we are introducing a manga which has broken out the imagination and kicked off commonsense domestic majority had had. The manga has made University of Tokyo closer to Japanese. It is Dragon Zakura written by Mita Norifusa. That was already ended in 2007. However, they still have the comic books at cramming schools and libraries since the manga is a bible for a lot of examinees.

Is it really the most difficult to pass their entrance examination? Naturally, it depends upon what kind of courses and subjects you take. Usually you can choose a course among six courses. You can select your favorite subject or you can pick up a subject the fewest examinees will take. Thinking and researching will make you find there is some room for choosing. Of course, reading Dragon Zakura can let you do, too.

Reading Dragon Zakura makes you know a lot of Japanese have stopped thinking about University of Tokyo. The words, not knowing is losing, often appear in the story. That is what the author has learned in real.

Sakuragi, a poor lawyer plays a main in the story. They say it is because Mita originally had set the theme of the manga as reconstructing a belly-up high school. At a business meeting, however, an editor said determinant words; it is so easy to pass the entrance examination of University of Tokyo. Mita had never been fated to the university and got surprised very much. Mita thought it made the manga more interesting to bring the amazement and the truth into the story. Then, he made a decision to change in policy and the bible was born.

Since an adult plays a main role in the story, not just examinees but also their families and teachers can enjoy it.

From spring to spring, a year is told in the manga. The students had hardly studied. Can they be crammed to study for just a year and go through the gate of the university? They will tell you the meaning of study and why University of Tokyo is No.1 through the tale.
