About our introductory articles

Hi, everybody. Today I'm talking about "I'm Also a Member of the Dreams Come True!" an essay written by Nakamura Masato (1958-). It was released in 2007, but now out of print.

You don't know what Nakamura Masato is, I suppose. He is a bassist who has belonged to the Dreams Come True, a Japanese popular music group. It consists of Nakamura Masato and Yoshida Miwa who has acted as the diva. They officially made their debut in 1989 March. In their early career, they were a trio. Nishikawa Takahiro had belonged to the group as the manipulator, but he got out in 2002 March.

Nakamura has arranged most of songs by Dreams Come True. He has also composed some of them, like their biggest hit song "Love Love Love." I guess everybody over 30 years old who has grown in Japan has listened to the song. It means Nakamura is (needless to say) important to the group.

But he himself was almost unpopular against popularity of the group. Most of the listeners recognized Yoshida Miwa, the singer. And almost nobody took care of the bassist.

One day in 2006, a newspaper editor asked him to start blogging in their free website. Nakamura was surprised. He already knew enough how he was unpopular. Anyway, he tried to blog just for a month. It made them meet with a great public response, however. His diary essays were interesting. He had to keep blogging. On the way, the blog became a very important way to publicize their activity.

"I'm Also a Member of the Dreams Come True!" contained his blog from 2006 June (the beginning of the blog) to 2007 May, a year. Reading it, you will know how hard he worked for surviving in the Japanese pop music field.
