Strolls is a conversation book published by Gentosha in 2013. Kobayashi Satomi, a Japanese actress born in 1965, acted as the hostess. She strolled and talked with 7 persons she were familiar with. The 7 is Morishita Keiko, Ishida Yuriko, Inoue Yosui, Kase Ryo, Ijima Nami, Motai Masako and Yanagi-ya Kosanji the 10th.
Do you know anything about Kobayashi Satomi? I have watched her act neither in screen nor on the stage, in fact. I am perfectly strange to her. What? How come I took the Strolls? I love Inoue Yosui's songs. He's a Japanese popular singer. Then, I got interested in what he talked with Kobayashi Satomi although I had no idea about her. What's problem?
It was hard for me to read the book.
First, I almost had no information about them. I was almost at home on neither Japanese actors nor Japanese comic storytellers. So I was mostly unfamiliar with what they talked about in strolling.
Moreover, I was pretty strange to Tokyo. I was an Osaka person. Osaka is over 500 kilometers away from Tokyo. Kobayashi Satomi and the guests strolled in nowhere but Tokyo and talked about something. In the case of Motai Masako, they were in Hakone, Kanagawa. Kanagawa is next to Tokyo. Anyway, I was so unfamiliar with the locations that I was almost unable to get what they talked about and how far they walked. Of course, it included neither Tokyo map nor annotation. How unkind!
I believe that those who produced the Strolls didn't suppose it would be read by the ones who were not at home on Japanese actors and who knew no way about Tokyo. I am difficult to say that they were imaginative.
Being unfamiliar with Japan's actors, being no informed about Tokyo, you must be away from this book. Or you will probably waste your precious time. On the other hand, being so familiar with Japan's show biz, being well informed about Tokyo, you may enjoy this book.
