"Kochikame the Novel" is a collection of short stories featuring "Kochikame." (Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kōen-mae Hashutsujo) "Kochikame" is a manga written and illustrated by Akimoto Osamu from 1976 to 2016.
Why did they publish such a collection book? "Kochikame the Novel" was basically planned for celebrating the 30th anniversary of the manga. Akimoto Osamu had kept the Kochikame without any rest for 30 years. Gathered, therefore, Japanese popular novelists in honor of his great achievement.

In other words, the short stories were originally born from respect. All of the 7 tales are full of affection to the original manga. The 7 novelists made the characters from "Kochikame" play in their way. You can read the other side of the characters from "Kochikame" like Ryotsu Kankichi.
