About our introductory articles

“Nodame Cantabile” is Japanese manga written and illustrated by Ninomiya Tomoko. And it is going to lead you to enjoyable classical music journey. The comics are the ticket for you.

Now, just a little time, let me explain about “Nodame Cantabile.”

Nodame is a nickname of Noda Megumi who acts as a main character. She belongs to the Piano department of a Japanese musical college and Noda is a natural-born pianist. However, she is not so wise and lives in a messy room.

Chiaki Shin-ichi also belongs to the college and he is trying to be a conductor. He is really a brilliant student because Chiaki is talented in piano and violin and once lived abroad.

One day Chiaki happens to hear Noda play piano. Then, he gets interested in her, but Chiaki goes surprised at her saying “I am not trying to become a professional pianist at all.” He recognizes her talent more than anybody and cannot believe her idea that says Noda is becoming a kindergarten teacher, not a pro musician.

Are the two different ways crossing? The story goes on with the fine young musicians on “Nodame Cantabile.”

You might reckon it is pretty difficult to touch classical music. Then, with their comic backchat exchanges, and with clumsy love of the two youngsters, “Nodame Cantabile” leads you to the classical music world in enjoyment.

The story begins in Japan. And the stage moves to France. Therefore, if you were interested in classical music or Europe, it is nonsense not to get in the world of “Nodame Cantabile.”
