About our introductory articles

Oikawa Neko is a Japanese female lyricist. She was born in 1960 Wakayama, Japan. What's popular among her works? I suppose it's Cruel Angel's Thesis, the opening theme of Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995). And also she's written lyrics for others a lot. For instance, most of Wink's hit songs were written by Oikawa Neko. Wink is a Japanese female duo who were active from 1988 to 1995. They sang "Lonely Tropical Fish" and "Ai ga Tomaranai (Turn It into Love)" with the lyrics written by Oikawa Neko, they ranked No. 1 at the Oricon Weekly Chart.

"Lonely Tropical Fish" the 5th Single of Wink(1989)
Oikawa Neko wrote the words.

In other words, Oikawa mainly works behind the scenes. Then we are mostly hard to see what she is, even if you were in Japan. Hakon must be a clue to know what she is. Hakon is Oikawa's memoir book published by Shincho-sha in 2016.

What does Hakon mean? It means marriage breakup. Oh my. And naturally, the main theme is her marriage life with her ex-husband. The beginning is 2000 when She was 40 years old. She traveled to Turkey, met a Turk man there. He was 18 years her junior, they slowly became closer. Through their long winding road, they got married in 2005. International marriage is difficult, they always say. But the difficulty is not the main theme of the memoir book. The title is Hokon.

The Turk man fist looked well-mannered. And so she had a good feeling. She told her mother hadn't liked him at the first time. It is reasonable. Usual women had no ground to trust unfamiliar Turks. The wind was against him. But he said "I love Neko's mom even if she dislikes me. She gave birth to Neko. So she is precious to me." In fact, he helped her mother like a brick. It made her mother's heart ice melt away, her mother liked him until her death.

Why did she have to break up the marriage with such a good guy? you may ask. He also brought hard times to her. She lost most of her property for him, took the huge debt upon herself. They broke up in 2014, she owned the debt 70 million yen for him at the time. What made such a hard situation? Reading the memoir book will take you to the right place (perhaps).

This is the memoir book of Oikawa Neko as mentioned above. So it explains what she is. What youth did she spend? What on earth made her rich as she lost her property? Losing property always happens after building a fortune. The answers are in this book. No problem even if you are unfamiliar with Oikawa Neko herself.
