Speaking of summer in Japan, the young and the old are looking forward to summer festivals held everywhere in Japan. We can enjoy just the mood. Before everything else, it makes us energetic to see some carry a portable shrine on their shoulders.

Well, we wear Jikatabi, it is also called work tabi or matsuri tabi, on our feet when we carry a portable shrine. That makes you easier to walk because jika-tabi are toe-divided so they can let you feel as holding of the ground with your toes.

This time, featured is work tabi manufactured in collaboration with Marugo, a footwear company which produces 30 percent of Japanese Jikatabi, and SOU・SOU, a Japanese fashion brand which produces Japanese traditional wears in recent styles.

Marugo is a footwear maker established in 1915 and has begun to produce Jikatabi manufactured in Japan again after 40 years’ absence. Then, the brand-new work tabi were born. It can also be reconstruction of Jikatabi.

They use the material Itto-Unsai, the fruit of the intelligence of footwear workmanship in 1960s. That is good at waterproof property and very firm. On insole, used is impact absorber Poron (R) and it softens the impact to your heels and knees when you walk along.

They carry the work tabi from 22 to 29 cm by the centimeters. In summer, the Jikatabi must be useful.
