Akanemaru is the wagashi selling company standing in Osaka. And their representative product is the 5-colored Dorayaki. What is Dorayaki? It is the popular wagashi consisting of two little pancakes. And they put anko (sweet azuki bean paste) between the cakes. So do they paint it with several colors when they manufacture 5-colored Dorayaki? No, no. It just uses 5 types of beans for the anko.
Akanemaru were originally established as an anko manufacturing factory in 1940 Osaka. It was the times when the Western nations like Germany and France were almost confused for the World War 2, as you know. Japan were not so confused at the time? Probably, the air was mostly filled with the war. Military training began at universities in 1939. It seems most Japanese people cannot feel danger for real until they actually get damaged somehow, however. So I suppose they didn't care about the air, dared to establish a new factory in Osaka.
And today they don't manufacture any anko. The product is manufactured at a factory in Mie, not Osaka. If you say "I don't care about the prefecture that it was manufactured as long as it is tasty," what I mentioned would be nothing at all. And you'd better choose others if you desire to get what's made in Osaka.
