In 1945 August, Japan surrendered and the war finished. In air raids, America destroyed some of Japanese urban areas like Tokyo and Osaka. And we could see Maeda Sangyo inc. established in 1947 Osaka that was rising up from cold ruins.

Time flied, they started to sell Chu-pet in the middle of 1970's. What's that? It is a kind of polyethylene-packed juice as shown below. Freeze it, cut the edge of the pack, suck the iced juice. It got so popular in the end of the 20th century, we were easy to find it piled up on house-use refrigerators in summer. Pet of the Chu-pet probably came from polyethylene terephthalate. Probably? Why is the correct information hidden here? In fact, Maeda stopped producing Chu-pet in 2009. Why? They found some attenuated mold on Chu-pet in 2009. And they called in all the products, found it difficult to produce without mixing mold after their investigation. Maeda declared stopping the production after all. We can't find the product name on their website now. It seems they aren't inclined to show any of Chu-pet.

Today we can see some similar products at stores. But there is never Chu-pet, naturally. That makes us feel something sentimental, who've spent Japanese summers in the end of the 20th century.
