Recently, universities have promoted industry-university collaboration as countermeasures to the falling birthrate in Japan.
Also is the case of Tohoku Kyodo Nyugyo in Fukushima. Tohoku earthquake damaged their factory and facilities a lot. Moreover, out of the nuclear power plant accident in Fukushima, anything made in Fukushima is exposed to harmful rumors. I know the hardness is beyond our imagination.
However, silence does not invite any heroes. We must try to help ourselves. They collaborated with Professor Sekimizu belonging to the pharmaceutical department in University of Tokyo, and co-developed “KenQ-shitsu no Yogurt” using 11/19-B1; the new lactobacillus discovered by the professor. Fresh milk from Fukushima is used for the yogurt.

It was made by the meeting of two thoughts. One is Sekimizu’s will to help the damaged areas with his study. Another is Tohoku Kyodo Nyugyo’s one to show the safety and utility of the products produced in Fukushima to other prefectures. They resonated together and then, started to develop in end of 2013 winter.
Additive-free and 85 g; easy to eat! “KenQ-shitsu no Yogurt” are lying at the stores in the University of Tokyo (Todai) and
the online shop. A part of the sales is meant to be given to the disaster areas.
They say the lactobacillus has strong power for vitalizing natural immunity. It might be a strained interpretation, but I believe the power also comes from the Fukushima people willing to survive through their relentless situations.
