About our introductory articles

Kukure Curry. Have you ever heard it? It is a Japan's popular heat-and-eat curry manufacture by House Food. It began to lie at stores in 1971. Do you remember those days? Or before you were born? Anyway, they started to deal with the curry in 1971, you can still find the ones when you visit a Japanese supermarket, as long as it is an almost decent store. In countrysides, maybe hard is finding it. All depends upon your luck.

Let's turn it back to the Kukure Curry.

There are mainly three levels. Spicy(kara-kuchi), medium spicy(chu-kara), and mild(ama-kuchi). If you don't love anything spicy, you'd better take the mild or the medium spicy.

What does the "kukure" mean? you may ask. Especially, when you are almost unfamiliar with Japan's language. We Japanese people, in fact, don't have the noun word "Kukure." They say kukure came from the English word "cookless." You don't need cooking for eating Kukure Curry, they say. All you have to do is put it in hot water for several minutes. Being hard to prepare hot water, you can heat it with a microwave oven instead. Needless to say, when you desire to eat curry rice, you must prepare hot rice by yourself.

I heard House Food produced several manufactures overseas today, but it was hard to find Kukure Curry at foreign stores. Maybe Kukure Curry is a Japanese specialty. When you visit Japan after the Covid-19 pandemic finishes, why not take Kukure Curry?
