Introduced is Sazae Curry the retort curry popular in Oki islands of Shimane prefecture, called Oki no Kuni by people in San-in region this time.

In Shimane, there are a lot of turbo dishes like Yude sazae meaning boiled turbo, Sazae Meshi meaning rice mixed with turban shells and so on.

The beginning of the curry is that they were unable to easily obtain meat in Oki Islands although turban shells were often gotten, because of badness of convenience for transportation. So instead of beef or chicken, they have used turbos for making curry there. Sazae curry can be had at restaurants let alone families in Oki Islands.

It is sure that the curry is rare for people in main islands of Japan and overseas. J.A. Oki Douzen has developed and let it on sale since 1999. As a specialty of Oki Islands, the retort Sazae curry has lately been popular and loved by many persons.

With perfume of the sea, 21 kinds of spice and turbo butter from the liver of turbos, the curry tastes very luxurious. However, it was originally made for publicizing Oki Islands to the others. Then they say there are some differences from the original local flavor. To begin with, they say they do not use the liver like that in Oki Islands.

It will be fun to enjoy the difference with having local Sazae curry in Oki Islands after eating this retort curry first.
