So does it mean that Japanese mineral water is safer than foreign one? No, it is not right. In Europe, they are by far stricter about safety control over the source and about environmental protection than Japanese. And European people have sounder guideline in their mineral water. Japanese guidelines are obscurer and they cannot make it safe without sterilizing in Japan.
Then, Japanese mineral water can hardly be called natural water because they mostly add unnatural processing. However, you can feel and taste freshness in drinking Shirakami-sanchi no Mizu from Aomori since it has been unheated.
Shirakami-sanchi is a Japanese famous mountainous area which straddles Akita and Aomori. In 1993, it got to be included in a list of UNESCO World Heritage Site. A lot of rare creatures live in the natural treasury. As hardness of the water is 0.2, it is the softest mineral water in Japan.
The softest water promises you the best time of drinking. Moreover, it does not include extra minerals and so you can easily use the water for your babies or your quotidian dishes. Try to have it once by some means or other.
