About our introductory articles

We cannot run away from the fact in any seasons. Taking a look at vending machines in Japan, we often find more kinds of canned coffee than other sorts of drink. Canned coffee always lies at vending machines for Japanese anywhere.

In other words, it means that canned coffee has ever spread throughout all Japanese, without any distinction of age or sex. Although that is kind of cruel to tea lovers, it is so.

Now, it is not too much to say that canned coffee has conquered Japanese. And what was the first canned coffee in Japan? They say it was a product by UCC Ueshima Coffee established in Kobe, Hyogo. Surprisingly, they had produced canned coffee for the first time in the world. It was UCC Milk Coffee.

Ueshima Tadao was an establisher of UCC Ueshima Coffee that says Good Coffee Smile as their motto. He had loved coffee very much all his life. One day, at a station, he was drinking a bottle of coffee as always. Then a starting bell rang and he had to go when a little of coffee was still left in a bottle. At the time, they had to leave bottles at stores. He felt sad. That tragedy made Tadao ponder on handy and portable coffee. Finally they developed and launched the precursor of canned coffee in 1969.

By the way, their familiar name UCC means Ueshima Coffee Company. They are almost away from vending machine business today though they are a pioneer of canned coffee. You can find a lot of their vending machines just in Okinawa.

Japanese almost love canned coffee. UCC Milk Coffee is the precursor. You can never be a Japanese man without having this coffee. Is it hyperbolic?
