■ Could you explain how you were installed as the "Wine Glossary" director?

Y: A forefather of mine started a retail shop of sake and soy sauce. My father began wine import. 35 years ago, therefore, the "Wine Glossary" made its true beginning. He passed away and his wife, my mother became the heiress. I am the 3rd, so.

■ A hereditary post.

Y: My parents didn't force me and I didn't intend to be a successor. I belonged to the School of Nutrition or Faculty of Nutrition because I loved eating. I have got a dietitian's license, which means I was about to become a dietitian.

■ How come you didn't become?

Y: Dietitians have to compute closely in the job. I believed I was not made for because of my roughness. I was interested in my mother's job that was so close to me. After my graduation, I entered and began to study about wine.

■ Your family business is to deal with alcohol. Were you familiar with alcohol in younger years?

Y: Well.. so close to yes LOL. Youngsters, however, cannot be good palates for alcohol like wine and beer, as you know. I believe you have to be over 20 years old for becoming a sane palate.

■ I agree. Then, 4 years ago...

Y: I was installed as the "Wine Glossary" director. However, I was too immature to go easy, which brought the employees to the hard place. What's necessary in the scene is not the same as what's in management.

It means the difference between employees and the master. For instance, an employee said their salary was cheap although I made shift somehow with the money. I, but, didn't know how to tell them in a good way.

■ You mother told you nothing about it?

Y: Nothing. My mother was equal to the founder and regarded a solid combination as important. All the workers were familiar with the mood. I became the director and tried to make the rules as a company. It is natural discord was caused.

We all kept hard training in wine. That's naturally, however, unconnected with corporate education like growing up a leader and how to communicate. Some of the employees were confused at the wave of the unfamiliar. I studied management so hard, which made them understand deeper. Now it is so fine after a hard rain.

■ I appreciate it. It is said alcohol drinkers are on the decrease. What's wine to you?

Y: You don't need to, of course, be intoxicated against your will if you were a nondrinker. Wine has, however, a lot of the background like culture and history. I believe enjoying wine gives you a new pleasure and your journey will be more interesting since wine is connected with worldwide, including Japan, history and geography. I can say wine is not only a seed of happiness but also giving your life something new.
