About our introductory articles

Hello. I'm here talking about Verdun's all-purpose kitchen knife produced by Shimomura Kogyo in Niigata. In fact, I picked this up once in 2016. And I must release a new one now. Why? They say they don't produce the Verdun brand at the present time (2023 April). The brand started in 2003, and less than two decades, it silently disappeared before us.

First of all, I have got to introduce what Verdun is, since most of people in this world are supposed to be unfamiliar with it. That was the Japanese kitchen knife brand whose products were made of all stainless. And All-purpose Knives are what you can use in order to cut any materials like fish, vegetable, meat and fruits. The Verdun's all-purpose kitchen knives were on sale at less than 4,000 yen (including tax) though the quality was comparatively good.

Japan has been stuck in deflation close to 3 decades. And therefore they had to release the kitchen knife brand whose cost performance was fine, I guess. On the other hand, today Japanese people totally tries to get out from the long-time deflation somehow. So I suppose Shimomura Kogyo had got to annihilate the Verdun that probably gave themselves nothing but loss.
