About our introductory articles

Neon Genesis Evangelion is a Japanese animated drama that began airing in fall of 1995. That got very successful and was highly influenced in Japan at the time. To finish the series and take away the social phenomenon called the Eva boom, they released an animated science fiction film: The End of Evangelion. The movie meant the finis of the series and it never went on again.

EVANGELION: 2.22
YOU CAN (NOT) ADVANCE.
And on, a lot of animated stories had been produced and consumed in Japan for about 10 years. Anno Hideaki, a Japanese animation director and the originator of Evangelion, set forth his opinion titled What will we try to produce again? Moreover, he declared the series of Rebuild of Evangelion was decided to be produced. They said the series, a tetralogy, was based on Neon Genesis Evangelion, but not just a remake.

However, the story of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone was almost the same as the original anime while some designs and scenes and events were differently new. It should be right to interpret that as daring to start from the same beginning. Because differences from the original anime got clearly as the story went on.

EVANGELION: 1.11
YOU ARE (NOT) ALONE.
Directed by Anno Hideaki (Cheif),
Masayuki and Tsurumaki Kazuya
Written by Anno Hideaki
Produced by Otsuki Toshimichi
Distributed by KlockWorx, Khara
Running Time: 101 min.

On Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance., the determinant difference became plain. It is the second in the series, released in June of 2009. What does the animated film take on itself? That was superior to the audience and invited them to an unknown tale. It is reasonable that the film had perfectly been hidden in a veil until the film was released on June 27, 2009. As the audience made applause at the theaters, the content was very sensational.

It is also since the film is filled with willingness to make a break with Neon Genesis Evangelion. Misato says she would never be back at the past in the film and that speaks for the whole story, all characters and all staffs. The film is completely different from the anime in the 20th century, and the audience cannot read the next move any more.

Giving up the past means having to do nothing but create future. Uneasiness and hopes of having no ideas from the present might just come under our life. And the overflowing liveliness always seizes hearts and minds of a lot of people. Evangelion: 3.0 YOU CAN (NOT) REDO., an upcoming animated film that will be released in fall of 2012, succeed to the delicate dynamism.
