About our introductory articles

“Pocket Monsters” is a children anime series from Japan, and it is also called Pokémon for short. Needless to say, that is based on the Pokémon video game series produced by Nintendo, and is a part of the franchise. Naturally, it has run as animated films.

Then, we are hereabout introducing the most popular work of the movies. It is the first movie and the best, “Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back” released in 1998 summer.

Don’t look down upon it for a children anime film. You will find a deep idea in the animated movie.

Mewtwo means Mew Ⅱ. Team Rocket created him from the DNA of Mew which is a rare kind of Pocket Monsters. Mewtwo is an ultimate monster but only an artifact. So he always wonders what he is. Mewtwo is captured by an inferiority complex and badly hates all natural creatures. Satoshi and his partner monster Pikachu, a yellow mouse capable of manipulating electricity, meet Mewtwo for a reason. In the middle of their battles, Mew suddenly comes along, and…

Released, and so soon, the viewers exceeded 6,000,000 only in Japan and its domestic box-office passed 7,200,000,000 yen. Surprisingly, its fat popularity springs out to foreign countries. In 1999 America, the box-office reached to $ 80,000,000 and kicked off the record held by “Shall We Dance?” whose box office is $ 9.5 million.

Mewtwo’s revenge, it means an artifact makes a counterattack against the creation. In Japan of 1990s, PCs became conspicuous and most of Japanese tried hard to use computers. It was just like they were operated by the PCs which they made up for themselves.

Moreover, the animated film must tightly be with their succeeding in producing a clone of mammals. In 1996, they created Dolly, a clone of the sheep and made a clone of the cow in 1998.

Though “Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back” is a children anime film, we feel some satirical and a lot of entertainment. Their fruits mentioned above were natural and not caused by a temporary boom, I swear.
