Kokin-shu is the first studio album of Yakushimaru Hiroko, released in 1984 February. Just my opinion, but a kind of a consensus of pop music people is there in the undercurrent.

Yakushimaru Hiroko, she made her debut as an actress in 1978, trusted by Kadokawa Haruki. She was just in her teens, but Haruki found something good and unique in her at the audition. Therefore, spending school life, she had stepped up as an actress.

In 1981, she got a chance to appear as a singer. They entrusted her with the leading role of a Kadokawa film "Sailor Suit and Machine Gun." And she got to sing the theme song. To say frankly, it is considered that they prepared the song as just a benefit of the soundtrack at the beginning, since she was only in her teens and had not acted as a diva before.

However, I suppose that they were deeply surprised at the song she sang. What's this? It surprisingly included her character nobody else could easily imitate. The song became a single, and made a big hit.

I believe that pop music people were almost mad at Hiroko as a singer. She sings so transparently. There's only someone else from her month. There's no her. On the other hand, we also feel great presence, mysteriously. I am difficult to quickly remember other divas expressing transparency and great presence at the same time like her. She was just like a Shinto maiden. Pop music people desired her to sing a variety of pop songs, and gathered the first-class makers like Aki Yoko, Matsumoto Takashi and Takeuchi Mariya. Then, Hiroko's first studio album "Kokin-shu" was made up. A consensus about Hiroko is there in the undercurrent of the debut album, I believe.
