Hello. I'm here talking about Next Destination. That's the 2nd studio album of Kimura Takuya. It came out on January 19, 2022. We saw it ranked at the 1st of Oricon Weekly Ranking. And you maybe know nothing about him. Well, I'll tell you what he is.
Kimura Takuya is the Japanese popular TV personality born in 1972. In 1991, debuted SMAP that consisted of 6 young men. Kimura was one of them. They had hardly gained popularity at the early years, but became very well-known in the middle of 1990's. Kimura also got a lot of popularity under the nickname of Kimutaku. In Japan, pretty difficult is finding those who have never heard his name if they are over 30 years old.
SMAP grew up, constantly released hit songs like Shake, Fly, and the One and Only Flower in the World. But we didn't see Kimura debut as a solo singer. Was he poor at singing? No. In some studio albums of SMAP, you can listen to his solo songs. He had kept himself into a part of SMAP no matter how popular he was. And in 2016, Japanese people all got the news like a thunderbolt from the blue.
All members of SMAP had belonged to Johnny & Associates agency. And the president at the time hardened suspicions of the female manager of SMAP, drove her out from the agency. Impacted by the harassment, SMAP was forced to break up independently of members' intentions. I guess people were almost hard to believe it when they heard the news. That was a nightmare, their fans must have thought. And SMAP broke up silently in the end of 2016.
Kimura decided to stay in Johnny & Associates agency, other members all left. And in 2020, he came back to pop music with his 1st studio album. Probably, he got something there. Released was his 2nd one Next Destination in 2022 January.
All songs were written by outside writers like Hirai Dai and Kamikaze Boy (Man With A Mission). Kimura didn't write at all, throwing himself into nothing but singing. It means that hearing this album will make you taste him as a singer enough. And what did he set as his next destination? Listening to the songs, and feel it.
