About our introductory articles

Hello, everyone. I'm talking about the 2009 enka song "Woman in Odaiba (Odaiba no Onna)" today. It was first released as the B-side of "Nice to meet you (Deaete Yokatta)" in 2009 May.

Surprisingly, the enka song is not sung by enka singers but two news casters, Nakamura Hitomi and Makihara Toshiyuki. They belonged to the Fuji Television Network together at the time. (Nakamura already retired)

By the way, where the Fuji TV Network stands in is Odaiba, Tokyo.

What made the two Fuji TV news casters sing an enka song? Needless to say, Japanese news casters don't officially release the enka songs usually. There may be some who love enka, but nobody almost lets them release a CD.

Around 2008, booming was a TV program on the Fuji Television Network. It was "Quiz! Hexagon II," a quiz variety show. Many TV personalities joined the program, some of them got to make a CD debut by the chairman Shimada Shinsuke.

Nakamura Hitomi worked as the assistant, Makihara did as the questioner. Shimada Shinsuke decided to make them a duo who sang enka. Thus, they debuted in 2009 May.

The serial stream spread to other TV programs, some also made debut musical units like Yajima Biyoshitsu↓
