VAMPS
Two Vampires Conquer the World?
“Is that like holding a flamboyant wedding although it is a second marriage?” said Hyde in joke at an interview, when Vamps released their debut album “Vamps” in 2009.
Vamps is a Japanese rock duo that consists of Hyde on vocal and K.A.Z on guitar. The two have experienced joining each band and making debut in Japan. Hyde is from L’Arc-en-Ciel. K.A.Z is from Oblivion Dust.
Flying the flag which says “let’s make the ultimate debut album”; they made up songs of “Vamps” after they got to work together. A joke mentioned above is considered as they made fun of themselves.
Pushing play, you would listen to their earthy rock music which includes sort of sentiment somehow. Originally, Vamps means musical activities by two vampires, and the thirteen songs of “Vamps” are very loyal to their concept. That must be told fluently by the structure which puts “Bite” on the first and sets “Sex Blood Rock n’roll” on the last.

As shown by “Love Addict” which was released as their debut single in 2008, earthy rock is the mainland of their music. However, like K.A.Z said “Deep Red” was written imagining some spy movies and Hyde said “Sweet Dreams” meant a ballad case, their musicianship is never a little bird still in a cage. The spirit of the two could be felt from “Evanescent” which rock sound wraps a lyrical body.
In Japan, little would listen to and feel their songs without L’Arc-en-Ciel, thinking about popularity. Vamps are accepting it, and enjoying creating music of Vamps. Every song loudly tells you so.
After publishing “Vamps,” they went on a tour over many borderlines. “This album is completely for our live tour” said the two. The songs of “Vamps” really received strong support, not only inside, over the world like Spain, Chili, the United States, and Taiwan and so on.
