Diablock
Everybody Enjoys the Blocks & Grows Up
Creation is something beautiful, and can sometimes be cruel too, because
creation is also the moment of destruction. Creation and destruction are
not completely opposite, but are actually closely related. It should
ring the bell of anyone who has played with “Diablock,” Kawada’s
long-seller toy, what this means.

Combining the colorful blocks together, you can make whatever you like.
Any Japanese who has spent their childhood after the 1960s should have
played with this block, “Diablock,” at least once.
It is said that they got the idea of “Diablock” from pencil caps, but it
took many years of research until they were released in 1962. Endless
researches of improving the shape of the pencil caps and how to sell
them were done. However, with the favorable wind of that time, such as
plastic getting cheaper thanks to the improvement of production
technology, “Diablock” has captured the hearts of the children since it
was released.
The staff of Kawada made big towers and houses themselves with
“Diablock” for display. Also, they added lights and decoration to the
displays when selling them at stores. In this way, not only children,
but also the parents got obsessed with them.
“Diablock” used to have a wide range of products, but they only sell
simple products after entering the 21st century. There are several
reasons for this, such as the falling birth rate, but Kawada still
manufactures most of the series in Japan. This is to keep the safety of
the blocks as toys. However, Kawada’s spirit of not getting beaten by
price reduction and high efficiency is praiseworthy as a manufacturer.
INITIAL DIABLOCK
Make and break, break and make again. Children freely enjoy creation and
destruction using their own brains and senses, and foster their mind
with imagination, curiosity, and learning. Since the blocks of
“Diablock” that have been released after 1966 are compatible, they are
exactly the toy that goes beyond generations.
