The Made-to-order Bikes of Wood Always With You
“Moccle” is made-to-measure bicycles of wood, produced by Kinopio. And it is going to be a companion that is honestly beside you all the time.
In order to live along, we have to keep on changing our addresses and our environment to some extent. You would get it because babies are unable to live as babies eternally. However, it is also human to change seldom, as it is said the child is father of the man. So we can say life consists of changing and invariableness.
A Japanese designer; Yasuda Masateru created a wooden bicycle since he did not want to build normal cycles though he loved bicycles, when he belonged to Osaka Univ. of Arts. It is a seed of the “Moccle” which is a made-to-order bike of wood.
That is not just a least-expected visitor who merely makes a display of being unusual. Our bicycle history tells us they were basically made of wood and then, “Moccle” is an original bicycle. The wood absorbs a shock when it runs on the uneven ground, and you feel so comfortable to ride it.

Yasuda sealed his bicycle of wood once, and he left for Italy to study building cycles in 2002. He spent a decade there and mastered a skill as some of his works were used at Tour de France. Then, Yasuda came back in 2012, and set up his base in Nagano, not Osaka. Last year, he started producing “Moccle” again.
“Mastered a skill” does not mean Yasuda Masateru is skilled only at building bicycles. As long as it is made of wood, it might be cracked for drying. He guarantees the safety by combining some carbon with the wood. It means he improved also his producing ability.
“I feel no preferences for making it up” said Yasuda Masatru who is not an artist. He says “It is the most important to make a bicycle fit its rider. So I will directly see the one and build as occasion may demand.”
Fluid is his making style. He never hesitates to change any elements of bicycles and then, all his works consist of steady fineness.
