History of Japanese retort foods is...
Originally, boil-in-the-bag food was a by-product of American developing space food. In Japan, Miki Foods and House Foods, the two companies began to produce retort food in 1970. At the days, they had produced only two kinds, carry roux and pasta sauces. Totally they produced about 16,000 tons in 1970. However, the field had spread surprisingly and they totally produced about 146,000 tons in 1990; 20 years later from the beginning.
